Looking for a Depo alternative?
DaySpend is the closest alternative to Depo on iPhone.
Same idea: one number for what you can spend today, no bank login, and leftover money rolls into tomorrow. The difference is that you set it with a budget and your payday instead of income and bills. You can run separate budgets, and it costs less on every plan.
I'm David, and I make DaySpend, so this page is not neutral. Depo is a good app and I say below when it is the better pick. Every Depo fact here comes from its US App Store listing. Where the listing does not say, the table says so instead of guessing.

Pick DaySpend if
You already know your budget.
If you know you have $600 for food and fun until payday, you can type that one number and start. There is no list of income and bills to fill in first.
You are paid mid-month, weekly, or every 2 weeks.
Pick the day you get paid, a day of the week, or a custom number of days, and the budget runs from payday to payday. You can start mid-month and count only the days left.
You want separate pots.
Groceries, eating out, and fun can each have their own daily number with Plus. They are never added into one total, so one pot running low never hides behind another.
You want to pay less.
DaySpend Plus is $2.99 a month, $19.99 a year, or $39.99 once. Depo+ is $4.99, $39.99, or $99.99. The Home Screen widget is free in DaySpend.
Stay with Depo if
- You want your income, bills, and savings target to set the daily number for you.
- You use Depo on more than one device and need iCloud sync. DaySpend does not sync yet.
- You want net worth and debts in the same app as your daily number.
Switch in 3 steps
- Work out what you have left until payday. Money left, minus bills due before payday, minus what you want to save. The full sum, with an example
- Install DaySpend and enter that amount and your payday. If you are part way through the month, choose to start from today and it only counts the days left.
- Log what you spend. Tap the amount on the number pad and it comes off today's number. There is no comma or decimal point to type, so it works the same in every currency.
Free covers 1 budget, the daily number, categories, history, CSV export, and a Home Screen widget. Plus adds more budgets, money in for refunds and deposits, and the Lock Screen widget, with a 7-day free trial.
